WEST AUCKLAND
Liv Haysom
My name is Liv, I’ve grown up in Piha beach, just out of Auckland, for all 15 years of my life and I’ve been surfing ever since I can remember. I think I caught my first wave when I was 4 or 5. Living so close to the beach and my dad being a keen surfer meant it was just a natural thing for me to start surfing. I did my first surf comp when I was 9 and have been hooked ever since!
Over the last few years surfing has become an even bigger part of my life, I spend lots of my time training, both in and out of the water, for upcoming comps and just embracing the amazing life I get to live with the best people! I even became the under 16 girls national champ at the start of this year which was pretty amazing. In the future I would really like to travel the world surfing and try to take it as far as I can, but for now I’m just focusing on balancing school, training and surfing as best as I can and spending quality time with my friends and family.
I’m really excited to be involved in this project and have the chance to help evolve women’s surfing in this beautiful corner of the world we get to call home. Can’t wait to see some of you girls in the water!
